If you’ve ever had reflexology before, you might have noticed me working on a particular point on your foot that feels a bit “crunchy”, that pops or feels slightly tender. Don’t worry — this is actually quite common!
What Does a “Crunch” Mean?
In reflexology, these little “crunchy” or grainy sensations are often linked to areas of tension or imbalance in the body. It doesn’t mean there’s anything seriously wrong — but it can be your body’s way of showing that a particular area might need a little extra care and support.
For example, if I find a crunchy point linked to the digestive system, it could be that your tummy has been feeling a bit unsettled or you’ve had some bloating or discomfort recently. Or if I find something around the shoulder area, maybe you’ve been carrying tension there (hello, hours spent at a desk or scrolling on your phone!).
What Do I Do if I Find a Crunch?
If I notice a crunchy spot during your session, I’ll gently work on that area to help release any tension and support your body’s natural balance. It’s not about “getting rid” of the crunch although it often does reduce — more about encouraging the area to relax and reset.
I’ll always check in with you to make sure the pressure feels comfortable, and if you’re ever unsure or curious about what I’m working on, feel free to ask! Equally, please do let me know if it gets uncomfortable!
What Should You Do Afterwards?
After your session, it’s a good idea to drink plenty of water and give yourself some time to relax if you can. This helps your body process the treatment and feel the full benefits. If I’ve noticed a particularly crunchy area, I may suggest some simple self-care tips or gentle stretches you can try at home to keep things feeling good.
Crunchy bits or not, reflexology is all about helping you feel relaxed, balanced, and well-supported — and that’s exactly what I’m here for!

What happens if you feel something in reflexology, well hopefully you now know.
