Reflexology to Support Postpartum and Postnatal Mothers in Colchester

Postnatal Postpartum Reflexology Colchester

Welcoming a new life into the world is an amazing, joyous occasion. But I didn’t realise (until I had my little girl) it also brings about significant changes to a woman’s body and mind. The postpartum postnatal period can be challenging, both physically and emotionally, as we have to adjust to the demands of caring for their newborn while recovering from childbirth, all on very little sleep.

Many women don’t feel they have time, or ‘should’ have reflexology because their first and only priority is caring for their precious little baby. However, I am hoping this blog will remind anyone reading this that eflexology can be a valuable tool for supporting postpartum mothers; not only for themselves but also for their baby (and partner if you are not solo parenting).

Reflexology is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that focuses on stimulating specific points on the feet, face, and hands to promote balance and healing throughout the body. For postpartum mothers, reflexology offers a range of benefits that can aid in their recovery and promote overall well-being. I know this because I had reflexology throughout my postnatal period, and it REALLY helped me.

Things I work on if you came for Postpartum Reflexology with me

  1. Hormonal Balance: The postpartum period is a whirlwind of fluctuating hormone levels, which can contribute to mood swings, fatigue, and other symptoms. I would use my ‘hormone balancing’ routine which focuses on trying to help those important hormonal glands such as the pituitary and thyroid to do what they need to do.
  2. Stress Relief: Caring for a newborn can be overwhelming, and many new mothers experience heightened levels of stress and anxiety. I was an absolute bundle of nerves for the first few months, although I only realised that now I can look back. Reflexology promotes relaxation, activating the body’s parasympathetic nervous system and helping to alleviate stress and tension.
  3. Improved Sleep: Sleep deprivation is a common challenge for new mothers (and fathers), but as we know adequate rest is essential for recovery and overall well-being. Reflexology promotes relaxation and can help to regulate sleep patterns, enabling postpartum mothers to enjoy more restful and rejuvenating sleep. I noticed that in those early months, I would wake several times needing to feed, but then really struggled to get back to sleep. Reflexology helped me to fall back to sleep quickly!
  4. A moment for you: reflexology is a beautiful chance for you to take an hour for yourself – to lay in a quiet room and have some well-deserved respite. You can also bring baby along with you if you would like, and I can do some reflexology on their little feet too which often sends them off to sleep.
